Weekend Wins While Losing Weight

Enjoy the weekend but stay on track with your weight loss

All week we do SO GOOD staying on track, eating healthy, working out, and all the things. Maybe it’s better focus, or our routine of work, or whatever else your reason is. Then the weekend rolls around and it can be filled with gatherings, parties, celebrations, or maybe even some alone time consisting of R&R. Whatever the reason may be, it tends to throw us off track and we may find ourselves more tempted with sweet treats, fatty foods, alcoholic beverages, etc.

So how do we stay on track, not sabotage our weekly efforts, but still enjoy ourselves? Is this even possible?? Yes it is! What great news right?!?!

Here’s how we can stay on track with your weight loss and still have a great weekend:

1. Remind yourself of your goal and keep reminding yourself all weekend.

This should be at the forefront of each decision you make. Because guess what? Monday rolls back around and we want to look back and be proud of how we managed ourselves over the weekend.

2. Don’t have an “all or nothing” mentality.

If you have a meal that is higher in calories don’t think to yourself “well I blew it so I might as well go all out”. No, you didn’t blow it….eat that meal, and jump back onto your menu at the next meal.  Don’t starve yourself for the rest of the day, simply eat your next snack or meal as planned and keep going.

3. Stay Active.

Move your body and keep burning calories. This will help keep your mindset focused on your goal and burn excess calories. It’s a win-win.

4. Portion sizes.

Portion sizes are very important when eating “off plan”. For instance, if you go to a party and you REALLY want a piece of that cake, opt for a small portion, enjoy the cake, and move on.  Don’t go back for seconds. If you go to your favorite restaurant and really want your favorite meal, ask the server to bring you a to-go box and stick half your meal in the box and enjoy what is left on your plate.
