One of my favorite things about football games are the parties!  I love gathering with friends and family and eating good food.  But I don’t always want to sabotage healthy eating with all the high calories, high fat foods that tend to accompany these parties.  Here are a few healthy foods to bring to your next party.

1. Naked Chicken Wings

-opt for boneless, skinless chicken wings (also known as boneless skinless chicken tendersJ)  buy them not cooked at the grocery, toss them in your fave buffalo sauce or BBQ sauce and bake them in the oven until fully cooked.

2. Chips & Dip

            – grab some fat free plain Greek Yogurt and mix in your favorite herbs like Dill and lemon.  Cut up fresh veggies like celery, carrots, raw zucchini and squash and enjoy!

3. Shredded BBQ Chicken sliders

            – place boneless skinless chicken breasts in the crockpot, pour over ½ bottle of Stubbs BBQ sauce (no high fructose corn syrup in this brand), cook on low for 3-4 hours or until chicken is fully cooked. Once cooked shred chicken with a fork or hand mixer. Serve on whole wheat slider buns.

4. Bell Pepper Nachos

Slice mini bell pepper in half and place on a baking sheet. Cover with 1 cup shredded cheese, cooked ground meat, and heat in oven for about 20 minutes or until peppers are soft.  Top with plain Greek yogurt for sour cream, enjoy!

5. Stuffed Mushroom Caps

Cut stems off of about 1 lb of mushrooms, chop the stems and place them in a bowl with about ½ cup feta cheese and 2 cloves of garlic minced.  Stir and scoop the mixture into mushroom caps.  Bake on 350 in the oven for about 30 minutes or until mushroom caps are tender.

6. Berries & Cream

Place blueberries, blackberries & strawberry slices in a cup, & top with lite cool whip. Enjoy!

7. “Ice Cream” Sandwiches

Take 2 chocolate graham crackers, scoop about 1-2 Tbsp Lite Cool whip on one cracker and place the other cracker on top creating a sandwich.  Wrap in plastic wrap and freeze.  Enjoy!

8. Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Melt 8 oz of unsweetened Chocolate in a saucepan with a few drops of stevia (add to your liking) and dip strawberries into chocolate and place in refrigerator to cool.  You can also simply drizzle chocolate over strawberries.  You can also use Lilly’s chocolate which is already sweetened with stevia. I’ve found it at Whole Foods and Rouses.
